With 12,000 jobs at over 200 companies, Quonset is a real Rhode Island success story.

Quonset’s Port of Davisville is an essential component of Rhode Island’s economy, supporting thousands of good paying jobs and millions in household income for Rhode Island families. The Port also generates millions more in tax revenue for our state and communities.

Meanwhile, Quonset’s successful “Site Readiness” model has paved the way for new companies and thousands of new jobs at the Business Park by doing “prep work” – like permitting and engineering – ahead of time.

On March 2, Rhode Island voters will have an historic opportunity to build on that success by supporting a $60 million investment in Rhode Island’s economic future, both at the Port of Davisville and in a statewide initiative to bring Quonset’s successful approach for new business to every city and town in Rhode Island.

With your support, Question 7 will:

  • Invest $20 million in infrastructure improvements at Quonset’s Port of Davisville.

  • Invest $40 million in statewide Industrial Site Development.

The $20 million investment is essential to modernizing Quonset’s Port of Davisville, protecting existing jobs and preparing the port to be home base for the off-shore wind energy jobs of the future.  Already one of North America's leading auto importers, the proposal will help update and expand Davisville’s facilities – rehabilitating Pier 1 (which was built in 1941) and constructing a new Pier.

The $40 million investment in statewide Industrial Site Development would replicate Quonset’s successful “Site Readiness” initiative statewide. Administered by the Quonset Development Corporation (which runs Quonset), funds would be invested in  preparing business-ready parcels for manufacturing and other job-creating activities across Rhode Island.
